The Pacific Pearl is thrilled to report the handing over of the donations received from the Back Pack Program to the well known Lion’s Club of Mazatlán. José Hirano Castro, President, Arturo Rocha Peralta, 1st Vice President and José Migel Lira Ibarra, Secretary took time to sit down with the Editor of the Pearl to talk about their organization and projects. Among the donations received, all school supplies, were backpacks, pencils, pens, notebooks and binders. The Lion’s Club which is known for its work in building schools will continue their support of those schools with these materials. They will be given out at the end of August in time for the new school year. Other endeavors of the Lion’s club include eyeglasses campaign, eye surgeries, hearing aid donations in collaboration with Starky Hearing, and medical outreach days in periphery communities of Mazatlán. As the Lion’s Club is a well established organization, the Pacific Pearl plans on continuing its relationship with them in the future of the Backpack program.

The Pacific Pearl is once again accepting donations of school supplies, backpacks as well as eyeglasses, baseball gloves and baseballs for the coming year’s campaign. New or used (in good condition) items can be dropped off here at our office.
