A statewide salute to the performing arts has been a tradition in Sinaloa every October for many years, depending on who’s governor. Fortunately, the past two governors have been willing to chip in the pesos to bring an international array of performers to the state. Just announced is the program for The Sinaloa Arts Fair of 2007, with events simultaneously being presented in 11 municipalities around the state between Oct. 18 and Nov. 4. In Mazatlán, 14 events will have the collaboration of the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art. The local entity will help with technical assistance on staging, promotion and other logistical matters. This year a total of 80 Arts Fair events will be distributed among municipalities from El Fuerte on the north to Escuinapa on the southern border of the state. The program includes 30 performers and groups, six of them from abroad, six from other parts of Mexico and 18 from Sinaloa.
