The Pacific Wave Weekly, Mazatlán´s only weekly news site in English,
celebrates its first anniversary on March 11th. During the past year,
the site has generated an average of 18,000 hits a week by visitors and
local residents keen to read current news of Mazatlán. The site began
as a virtual newsroom which invited writers to send in their articles,
but soon evolved into a structured newspaper covering hard news, sports,
entertainment and business happenings in Mazatlán. “It had been an idea
for a long time,” commented Mike Veselik, owner and publisher of both
the Pacific Wave and Pacific Pearl Magazine, “but I wasn´t sure how to

our designer and Pacific Wave co-owner, Omar Pasqualato, knew exactly
how to set it up and worked many hours perfecting it. We enlisted Pacific

week in Mazatlán, which he translates into English in his own inimitable
style.” The combined efforts of Omar and EG have resulted in a popular
news site which publishes online every Friday year round. New and old
subscribers can check the Archives of all the back issues, and submit
their own articles by simply clicking on the “submit article” icon on
either the Pacific Pearl or the Pacific Wave Weekly home page. “We have
purposely set the subscription rate to the Pacific Wave Weekly at a reasonable
price in order for most people to be able to afford it. At 26 cents a
week, it is very economical. You can´t buy much else these days for that
amount,” Mike commented. Congratulations to the hardworking guys, Mike,
Omar and EG, who keep the Pacific Wave Weekly fresh and informative every
week. (As an anniversary special, you can subscribe for one year to the
Pacific Pearl Magazine AND the Pacific Wave Weekly online for the low
price of $20US. Go to either site for details.
