AThe Mazatlán Municipal Center for the Arts is working to receive its accreditation from the Secretary of Public Education (SEP), according to Juan Manuel Flores, school director. Within two years, he says, the MCA will be able to deliver diplomas and professional titles to those students of the various disciplines who have completed their three- or four-year courses of study in music, dance or voice. But although that has yet to happen, this year’s graduates from the Professional School of Contemporary Dance at the MCA can file for the title of “licenciado(a)” with the diplomas they will be receiving in early July. And all of the contemporary dance students at the school will be presenting a year’s end festival of the dance on the first day of this month.
