The governor of Sinaloa has appointed a new head for DIFOCUR, the cultural
arm of state government, who has been coming up with some last-minute decisions
about attractions to be booked into the Angela Peralta Theater. He gave
the theater 36 hours’ notice that a series of three concerts called “All
of the Orchestra, All of the State” would begin. The idea was to send sections
of the Sinaloa Symphony Orchestra out on mini concerts in various towns
around the state. For example, the initial concert on Feb. 12 featured the
first violinist, a viola and the orchestra’s pianist. Fortunately, the theater
had no bookings for that evening, so the chamber trio played its concert
— but with very little |

to the music loving public in Mazatlán. This month, at the Pacific Pearl’s
deadline, the theater has only one attraction on its roster: a gala flamenco
spectacular called “Remem-branzas.” An annual show staged by Miura Expresion
Flamenca, it is set for 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12. But that doesn’t mean
there won’t be other performances in the theater during the month. The best
advice the Pacific Pearl can offer its readers is to check the theater website
frequently: www.teatroangelaperalta.com,
to walk by the theater and see if there are any posters regarding upcoming
performances, or to find a Spanish-speaking person who can call the box
office, 982-4446, and ask for current information.jackie@pacificpearl.com |
