PACIFIC PEARL BACKPACK PROGRAM WRAP UP

For the kids in Mazatlán´s or-phanages and poorer colonias, last Christmas was a bonus year thanks to the generosity of visitors and residents. But come August when school starts, our visitors have not yet arrived and the kids and their families are on their own. For this reason, the Pacific Pearl has been sponsoring a backpack program for our disadvantaged students. Many of the children can’t afford a backpack, let alone the supplies to fill it. In Mazatlán, backpacks along with tennis shoes

are the pride of school kids. Having them can make the diff-erence between a child attending school or selling Chiclets on the street. We are finishing up this program. Last day to drop off donations is July 15th. We would like to give a huge THANK YOU to all who have contributed to the Backpack program! It has been a great success and we will be donating the materials to local area orphanages and schools in poor neighborhoods here in Mazatlán the second and third weeks of August.
