A “concert season” of sorts is already under way at the Angela Peralta Theater
— but it’s not too late to take advantage of the bargain you get when you
buy a season ticket for the remaining concerts. The Spring Season, with
the full Sinaloa Orchestra for the Arts and some of its musicians as soloists,
began on March 19 with clarinetist Jacob DeVries in the spotlight. The second
concert, on May 14, will have Aigul Kolova as soloist in a Concert for Piano
and Orchestra with a varied classical and contemporary program by such composers
as Chopin, Antonin, Aaron and the Sinaloan Eduardo Gamboa. The third event
in the series is set for June 5, with the participation of Pavel Meza in
a Concert for Guitar and Orchestra featuring Sinaloan soloists. Compositions
by Manuel M. Ponce and Kurt Weil (with a suite from the Threepenny Opera)
will be on the program. A season ticket costs 150 pesos, while tickets for
individual concerts go for 120 pesos each. Prices were deliberately set
to encourage music lovers to attend at least two of the three, if not all
three concerts. All performances take place at 8:00 p.m. in the Angela Peralta
Theater. Meanwhile, during Holy Week and Easter Week the staff of the theater
goes on vacation. The only performances during the month of April take place
in its last week when the 18th annual |
