WHO WILL WIN THE SUPER BOWL?
By Ed Newton

Itīs going into overtime, Oakland and Minnesota are tied at the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay, Florida, the fans are screaming, the country glued to its telivision. Who will come out on top? The battle rages on as the teams fight between the 30-yard markers. Replacements are shuttled back and forth. Even some trick plays are called, flea flickers and double reverses, only to be stopped. Fans are canvessed and the spread narrows as the betting begins to deminish. Double and triple overtime are played. John Gruden, the Raiders Coach, suggests reviewing the tapes to determine the winner by total yards. The game is halted but the tapes have been mishandled and have been spindled and mutulated. Dennis Greene, the Vikings Coach, suggests counting the dimples on the helmets to determine the winner. Attorneys are brought out and appeals are sent to the head ref., also from Florida, he doesnīt know what to count. A play is reviewed to determine the intent of the free safety, was the intent to prevent the reception or to intercept? The umpires had a

conference, penalties were called on both players and the down is to be replayed! Another conference is called, did the Oakland quarterback, Gannon, intentionally ground the ball outside ior inside of the tackles? Or should the rules be changed? If so do we start the game over or resume the play from 18 minutes into quaduple overtime? A Minnesota assistant coach appeals a defensive penalty, the flag gets picked up. This is appealed by the opposing coach only to be determined that it could not be reviewed. Al Davis brings out more attorneys, Minnesota, their Viking mascote- strength verses deceit. The players are exhausted. The NFL Commisioner, the supreme law of football, Paul Tagliabue, leans towards total yards but has the side judge mismarked the placement of the ball? Finally, in the longest game ever played it was determined that the absentee fans would decide the victor but when the players, coaches, and attorneys, owners and umpires looked around, they noticed the fans had left. They were watching the college basketball Final Four.
