FISHING MAZATLAN SALT WATER - FRESH WATER
By Sharky Anderson
The month of June 2000 proved to be fantastic fishing for our local fishing wiz Frank "Pancho Postre" Arlaus and his fishing buddies Bob Steele, Dayton, Ohio and Dave Macskill, Reno, Nevada. On June 8th Bob and Pancho went to Lake EL Salto to try their luck at bass fishing. As evidenced by the photo, they launched a 10.6, 9.5, 9.2, 8.5 and a 6.5 lb. large mouth bass which they are having mounted for the wall in Panchos´ house. They also reported raleasing more than 40 bass that weighed from 3.5 to 5 lbs. each. The bass fishing trip of a lifetime, said Bob Steele, who has fished all around the world. El Salto has to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in the world right now and I would recommend it to anyone wishing for the bass fishing trip of their life. Bob Steele went back to Dayton on June 10th with fond memories of El Salto. On June 13th Panchos´ friend Dave Macskill and his wife Salli arrived wanting to catch a blue marlin so that Dave could have a photo to make it on Panchos´ wall with the other photos of Panchos friends that have landed blue marlins. I´ve been fishing with Pancho for 7 years trying to "make it on the wall" at Panchos´ house, said Dave. On June 15th they went fishing, and again, the photo says it all! At 8:15 they had the marlin aboard the boat after only a 25 minute fight. The fish weighed in at 273 lbs. which is the biggest fish Dave has ever caught. We lost another blue marlin that Salli would have landed had one of the crimps holding the hooks on not loosened. We will be back, said Salli, I want to make it on the wall too!
