MORE HELP (AND HOPE) FOR MARTIN
By Shana Hugh

For some time now, the Pacific Pearl, has been sponsoring a young gymnast named Martin Quintero, helping him achieve his dream of participating in the 2004 Olympics. And every Monday, Martin gets a little closer. Although Martin has the talent to represent México in the Olympics, he lacks the funds to get there on his own. So every Monday night, during Monday Night Football, the Sports Saloon offers a special meal, payable in donations for Martin. Every week, these "special meals" are prepared by a generous donor. Without even deducting the cost of food, all proceeds go directly to Martin. This Monday night tradition began when Martin Armstrong, a professional chef from Montana, suggested preparing a meal and donating all proceeds to Martin Quintero. This tradition caught

on quickly, and a multitude of guest chefs have followed Martin Armstrong's lead. On December 6, Martin Armstrong was back again. During his first Monday as guest chef, Martin donated and prepared 22 kilos of coconut-papaya marinated ribs. And for his most recent act of kindness, Martin donated and prepared 25 kilos of delicious BBQ chicken. In addition to Martin Armstrong's generosity, other recent donations include Betty and Babe's "American Pozole" on November 29 and the Pacific Pearl's Sloppy Joe's on December 13. Thank you to all these big hearts as well as to all those who have contributed to Martin Quintero's piggy bank. As a result of these and other Monday Night donations, the Sports Saloon has raised 4278 pesos for Martin, to date. Many thanks to all who have helped out.
