CARNAVAL 2000 SCHEDULLE

Here's the latest schedule for the Mazatlán International Carnival 2000 as released by Codetur (the organizing committee). As always, dates and places for some events are subject to change, and corrections will be made as we get them. A glance at this list will give you some idea of the immense size and scope of Mazatlán's "maximum fiesta," slated for March 1-7.

Feb. 5 - 9:00 a.m. Carnaval preview in cities of South Sinaloa
Feb. 11 - 6:00 p.m. Carnaval preview through streets of Mazatlán
Feb. 19 - 6:00 p.m. Final vote computation, naming of Carnaval Queen, Candidates to be judged at Angela Peralta Theater
March 1 - 6:00 p.m. Awarding of 5th annual Lopez Saenz Prize for Art, Mazatlán Art Museum
March 1 - 8:30 p.m. An Evening with the Arts, cultural program, awarding Mazatlán Prize for Lit
March 2 - 8:30 p.m. Coronation, King of Joy, Fisherman's Monument
March 3 - 8:30 p.m. Traditional Flower Games Pageant, awarding of Clemencia Isaura Poety Prize, Baseball Stadium
March 3 - 1:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Food fairs open, to run daily through Tuesday night, Plazuela Machado and Zona Dorada
March 4 - 7:00 p.m. Coronation Pageant, Queen of Carnaval, Baseball Stadium
March 4 - 10:30 p.m. Ship-to-shore Fireworks Battle, Olas Altas
March 5 - 5:30 p.m. First Carnaval Parade along Avenida del Mar
March 6 - 10:00 a.m. Children's Ball, Hotel Playa Mazatlan ballroom
March 6 - 7:00 p.m. Coronation Pageant for the Child Queen, Baseball Stadium
March 6 - 11:00 p.m. Pacific International Queen's Ball, Muralla Sports Club
March 7 - 4:00 p.m. Second Carnaval Parade along Avenida del Mar
