Mazatlan's golfing community has been enriched with the addition of Julio
Viscontti who was recently selected to be the director of golf at the El
Cid Golf and Country Club. Brian Werner, general manager of the El Cid Golf
and Country Club, said the timely addition of Mr. Viscontti coincides with
the completion of the Lee Treviņo nine-hole golf course at the mega resort.
The grand opening of the course, for which Mr. Treviņo and Mr. Viscontti
will be present, will be on Tuesday, January 12 at 10:45 a.m.. Mr. Viscontti
will oversee operations for the entire El Cid golf course, including te
existing 18 holes on which El Cid Residential Community was built around.
Mr. Werner said another recent addition to the golf community is "America's
Favorite Golf School" which opened at the mega resort on December 1. Mr.
Viscontti was most recently the director of golf at the 27-hole Bajamar
Golf Resort in Ensenada, Mexico. "Julio was hired for his vast experience
in teaching and playing the game of golf, developing golf programs and operating
golf course facilities in Mexico", Mr. Werner said. Mr. Viscontti actively
participated for five years in a variety of |

professional golf tours,including
the Professional Golf Association and Nike tours in the United States,
the Mexican tour, including the Mexican Open and the South African and
South American tours. As part of his duties in El Cid, Mr. Viscontti will
play six professional golf tournaments throughout Mexico each year where
he will call attention to the ammenities of the El Cid Golf and Country
Club. He will also be actively involved in promoting golf groups, golf
tournaments and the day to day development and operations of the golf
program at El Cid. A native of Tijuana, Mexico, Mr. Viscontti studied
law at Cal Western in San Diego and at the University of Mexico. He holds
a juris doctorate in law from both the United States and Mexico, although
his first love professionally has been golf. He has also provided commentaries
for Fox Sports West Network in the United States and Televisa in mexico
as well as giving golfing tips on the Fox Sports West Network. Mr. Viscontti
is married and he and his wife are expecting their first child. He said
he was pleased to be chosen for the position at el cid.. He accepted the
position, in part, he said, because, "i see a lot of good here in Mazatlan
and Mazatlan has a lot to offer families."
