In this month´s issue of the Pacific Pearl we take a look back on our 14 years of publication with some pride. Through wind, sleet, rain and snow (or in our experience devaluation, floods, fluctuating economic climates, and finally a tourist and building boom), we have missed neither a deadline nor issue. Our belief in the people and city of Mazatlán with its huge tourist potential continues to guide us in our mission to provide our readers with interesting, timely and accurate information on happenings in our town.
 
The years 2005 and 2006 have been extraordinary ones for Mazatlán. A long overdue recognition of our city´s charms has brought national and international developers to our shores to provide condominiums and housing for the growing influx of investors and potential homeowners. The skyline of Mazatlán has changed overnight.
 
In these exciting times, the Pacific Pearl is the eyes and ears of the fast-moving changes. Our Pacific Wave News virtual newspaper on our website reports on happenings weekly in the city. The 4th edition of our Official Guide & Directory to Mazatlán covers not only current tourist information but also, in response to the growing foreign resident population, vital information on living here. Our diverse and comprehensive Pacific Pearl website remains one of the most visited Mazatlán sites, with more than nine million hits in the last year. And this year in answer to growing demand, our monthly Pacific Pearl magazine went from 32 to 40 pages for the first time in its history. For our national summer vacation tourists, we published a successful Summer 2007 Pacific Pearl edition in Spanish, an enterprise we look forward to repeating next year.
 

I would like to thank our readers and advertisers for the confidence they have shown in our paper during 14 years of publication. We will work hard to maintain that confidence in the years to come. I´d also like to acknowledge the hard work and professionalism of our staff - our writers, editors, designers and salesmen. They are the backbone of the paper.
The years ahead for Mazatlán are going to be fast-paced. Our city is growing rapidly, tourism is expanding, and we promise to be there to keep you informed every step of the way.
