Natural or Processed? Just Glad
to be Back!!

I recently went on a five week vacation with my
family to the States and while there we went from hotel to hotel
and restaurant to restaurant. When we returned to Mazatlan my back
was sore and my blood sugar level was unusually high. The doctor
said: Too much processed food!¨ We actually ate at only two ¨fast
food¨ franchises, and the majority of the time at family style,
sit down restaurants such as Bennigans, TGIFridays, The Olive Garden
and the like, thinking that the food would be healthier and prepared
in a more home style preparation. Was I surprised! When we left
one particular restaurant I noticed by the dumpster a suspicious
looking package and I picked it up, realizing within seconds that
that was what I had just eaten…

| Upon returning to Mexico we usually stop in a small town
along the way, get a room and something to eat. Stopping in a small,
local family run restaurant, I ate a delicious bowl of tortilla soup
and chicken fajitias. Immediately I felt that I was eating ¨real food!¨
The smell, taste, and even body/mind response to the food were all
positive and I realized that it was because I was eating natural stuff!
The point here is that most foods that are prepared in Mexico (non-chain
food restaurants) are made fresh everyday. For the same fish dish
here the label would have read: white fish, potatoes, cheddar cheese,
flour, salt and pepper and spices, no preservatives and no hard words
to pronounce! It is great being back in Mexico and eating healthier
food again. So if it tastes a little strange you’re most likely tasting
natural. Buen Provecho! |
