Major Events Calendar and Virtual Machine a Success
We are very excited about our online calendar of events! It is very easy to use and in no time at all you can view or add events going on around town for as far in advance as you wish. Many events are already planned and on the calendar for the coming fall. This calendar makes it much easier for us to report on upcoming events and for planners to plan around other major events that may be occurring. Simply go to www.pacificpearl.com and click on the Major Events Calendar logo and you’re ready to go.

Pacific Pearl Welcomes Rebecca Caven as New Editor
We are happy to welcome a new Editor on board at the Pacific Pearl! You can reach her at: rebecca@pacificpearl.com or by phone at the Pacific Pearl’s office. Here is an introduction of Rebecca in her own words: Greetings to the readers of the Pacific Pearl! My name is Rebecca Caven and I am from the Eastern/Northeastern regions of the US. I was born in Maine and moved to Virginia at the age of 16. Being of adventurous spirit and well traveled parents, I decided from a young age that I was going to travel the world. As a student at James Madison University, where I studied English language and literature, I traveled several times to Oaxaca and there I fell in love with the Spanish language, Mexican culture and people. After studying in England as a junior, graduating from JMU and doing a year of lay missioner work in Guayaquil, Ecuador and a tour of Peace Corps in Jamaica, I found myself once again in Mexico doing my graduate student internship in Public Health which I studied at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. I spent last summer in Acapulco, Guerrero, conducting interviews in the health and legal sectors on the topic of women’s reproductive health and rights. I now call Mazatlán my new home and am thrilled to be by the sea once more. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work as an Editor for the Pacific Pearl and look forward to learning more about the city, community and readers of the magazine......Rebecca
