Pearl´s recipe guru, Christine Yerbic, has written a cookbook that is
bound to have your taste buds salivating. A 40 year veteran of the food
industry in the US and an adventurous cook, Christine has put together
traditional and non-traditional Mexican recipes in an engaging book entitled
Cooking in Mexico. Regular readers of Christine´s Mouthful of Mazatlán
column will recognize some of the recipes which have appeared over the
years in the Pacific Pearl, plus many new ones. |

| Christine,
a well-known winter resident in Mazatlán, has compiled this unique cookbook
from her own Mexican recipes for Mexican, American and Canadian cooks.
These tasty, easy-to-follow recipes were inspired by her love of Mexico,
Mexican history and cooking. Some recipes are accompanied by explanations
of their historical roots, such as the recipe for Watermelon Margaritas
which is accompanied by an interesting story on Margarita Sames, the reputed
originator of this popular Mexican cocktail. |

| For the
cook who is unfamiliar with Mexican cooking and ingredients, Cooking in
Mexico is a fountain of information. In the chapter entitled “The Mexican
Kitchen,” Christine talks in detail about chiles, cremas, cheeses, corn,
coconut and other staples. It is an invaluable guide for anyone interested
in Mexican cuisine. All the recipes in this book are easily adaptable
to North American kitchens, and all ingredients are available in Mexico,
the US and Canada. |

| Just in time for
Christmas, Christine will be autographing her new cookbook at the Pro-Mexico
Brunch & Bazaar on November 9th. Her book is also available at the Pacific
Pearl Office and the Mazatlán Book & Coffee Company. |
